Four Years of Welcome to IBB Center

Four Years of Welcome to IBB Center

Between 2021 and 2025 the Institute of Biochemistry and Biophysics PAS ran two editions of the project Welcome to IBB Center under the NAWA Welcome to Poland programme. The goal was to create a friendly space for international PhD students, researchers, and guests – and to ensure the Institute meets the needs of an international research environment.

Some of the key achievements from these four years:

  • Established and developed the Welcome Center, serving as a point of contact and support for incoming international researchers and students.

  • Created welcome.ibb.edu.pl and produced information materials – including a newcomer’s guide and leaflets with practical tips.

  • Improved information accessibility by providing access to documentation and resources in English, adapting internal systems for bilingual use, and installing English–Polish signage across IBB.

  • Organized 10 intercultural workshops and 12 integration events, including “Cuisines of the World” meeting, Diwali and Nowruz celebrations, guided tours and concerts.

  • Delivered trainings for IBB staff on intercultural communication, onboarding, team management and residence legalisation procedures.

  • Produced a promotional film, a new logo, and a consistent visual identity for the Welcome Center.

The Welcome Center is now a well-established part of everyday life at IBB. It not only makes the arrival of international researchers smoother, but also creates opportunities for the whole community to connect and integrate. Building on this experience, we are continuing with the next project to maintain good practices and keep developing supportive environment for international research.
